Target Audience
A target audience is the group of people a business intends its marketing to reach, defined by what they need, where they are and how they choose, rather than by everyone who could conceivably buy. In AI visibility work it is the group whose questions make up the measurement panel.
From an audience to a set of questions
An audience description becomes useful the moment it is turned into the questions those people ask. A trade in a place has a recognizable set: what something costs, who is available this week, who handles a particular job, who is worth trusting. This site builds its panel that way, twelve buyer questions per trade and metro, puts each question to one assistant, Claude with live web search, and keeps every answer verbatim. Defined this narrowly, the audience also tells you which pages to write. A question the audience asks and the site does not answer is a gap an assistant cannot fill in your favor.
Why an audience of everyone reads as no one
An assistant answers one person with one need. A homepage written for anyone who might ever need the service has no passage that answers a specific person’s question, so there is nothing in it to lift. A page written for the buyer who needs an emergency repair, or the one comparing two materials, contains the sentence that person came for. The narrower the audience a page serves, the more likely it holds a citable span.
